so here's my simple, easy, failsafe method of dealing with terrorists.
Don't let media cover their behaviour.
Mock them in the media.
So straight forward. Except, of course, media won't like it.

In days of yore terrorist reporting was restricted,even down to the ridiculous state where Gerry Adams had his voice dubbed over by an actor on the news.
With modern communications you simply cannot keep things hidden by removing them from the national rags and news at 10.That's just trying to put an elastoplast on a gaping wound,you need to deal with the 'whole body'.

My take,as a man who has travelled to combat zones is simple.Admit your previous mistakes,then tell the world how you will put them right.
Deprive the terrorists of the very ammunition that gathers others to their cause.Stop Israel killing Arabs with American money,make Iraq work from inside,not by bribing your puppets to do ye bidding...same in Afghanistan...in fact get ye butt out of Ukraine..the list is endless...just use the power you still have as a force for good,not just profit.Amen
