Andrew will have a heart attack ! 10 Years, 10 Months ago
Little could have prepared Folkestone for 14 October 1914. The bustling Kent port was used to comings and goings, but not the arrival of 16,000 Belgian refugees in a single day.
Official records from the time estimate 250,000 Belgians refugees came to Britain during WW1.

In those days because we had so few refugees we could happily take in genuine people, nowadays they're mainly illegal economic migrants, all waiting an invite to work on the Bakewell plantation for below minimum wage!

I do fear for the unemployed in Bakewell there don't seem to be a lot of industry.
Maybe Mr and Mrs ITK will go to Folkestone next year for a holiday and see the wrestling.

I lived in Folkestone for 2 years Pattaya, I'm sure ITK will enjoy watching the football, eating cockels, drinking the local ale and moan about the immigrants.
