Interesting the admission - delivered as a boast - that they have, to all intents and purposes, censored their own archive. This rather sinister move has in fact been done with sinister motives - because watching TOTP, Jim'll Fix It or Clunk Click would lay waste to the nasty and unscrupulous bullshit that molestation and "grooming" was beamed into the homes of 'unenlightened' proles in 'the dark ages'.
Tony Hall and the devils he employs as journalists have no right to censor their archive, and actually have committed not to do so as they work with the likes of the BFI and Kaleidoscope to replenish their archive. What was it Mark Thompson pledged to you (less than years ago) JK?
I agree that legal action should be considered - we the license payers are not funding The Daily Fan Club, or any of the other commercial organisations engaging themselves in this bulldozing of the recent past. It needs addressing head on in an official manner that cannot be easily brushed under the carpet

A few years ago, the BBC released all the series of the Two Ronnies on DVD. In the latest pressings however, there have been changes. In Series 9 Episode 8, 90 seconds have been cut from the "Crop of the Flops" sketch, in which Barker & Corbett appear as "The Two Jimmies", introducing the show, doing the chart rundown and providing links between the acts. In the revised version, the Two Jimmies have completely vanished. A photo of the Two Jimmies on the back cover of the DVD has also been replaced. These changes also apply to the discs in the complete Two Ronnies box set.

BBC should give TOTP archives to Kaleidoscope/BFI who look after them properly.

Well spotted Honey - I've had several e-mails about this - not only did they go on at length but Matthew asked the BBC whether I would be featured in other repeated shows and complained about not getting a reply.
Judging by the calls I've had the discussion concentrated on "why ban Savile when you're showing JK?"… I suspect this discussion will continue over the following months. Hopefully I'll be asked to contribute at some point.

Simon Napier-Bell pointed out that you had actually been convicted and Savile had not.

If they are also removing access to film of anyone impersonating anyone who has been Yewtreed, then the chances of the Goodies episode "Scatty Safari" ever getting a DVD release, or being screened again, is zero. The Goodies star safari park includes celebrities such as Jimmy Savile (seen swinging from a tree), and a breeding pair of Rolf Harrises, who eventually lead to a Rolf Harris population explosion.
