I return to my "no borders" opinion. With the Internet showing that the Human Race is a global species, so the time has come that we regard certain areas as to be controlled universally. That's why I expand my EU views rather than shrink our connection. We need to stop isolationism and develop internationalism. Nations that oppress need to be stopped by international action (preferably NOT military intervention). And crimes like murder need international action but not the old kind of warfare. Surgical intervention against lunatic quasi religious or moral societies (such as countries or sects which kill innocent people for no reason).

Send in the SAS and kill the lot of them....except this British guy who is part of it.capture him and stick him in a jail in the UK for life and see how he gets on.

Chop of the head of the snake and the rest will die. But ITK, Assad is just one faction others don't agree with; It's very dangerous other countries getting involved in local arguments, especially so violently and when the reasons are less clear. Would you be in favour of another country, say Iran, sending a hit squad to the UK to kill Cameron and Clegg because they think Labour would be better?

Assad was the one that the Syrians protested about (peacefully - till he started killing them !) Just like the peaceful (for now) protests in Hong Kong.

Because we didn't help the Syrians (as we promised we would) a power vacuum has opened ... and every nutter in the world has now arrived.

The UN has already said that Assad must go - therefor your scenario does not compare.
