Love the Paul Simon story - in the history of music, the moment music festivals became free is a milestone. Your blogs are starting to provide real nuggets for us observers of the time.

Im intrigued by the flashed newspaper headline, in the film which says...."they are even knocking Jonathan King over here...".
Was this a story about your hair being too long?

Derek took me to the British pub in Los Angeles and I had my long(ish) hair and the Drummer Boy jacket I'd bought in Portobello Road (which inspired John Lennon to buy one and it became the Sgt Pepper look) and the drinkers booed me when I came in!

Derek was amazed! I was not surprised. Then, as now, I tended to provoke reactions.

Being booed by a pub must have ben quite hair-raising. (Poor JK)

Thank goodness the hysterical and violent reaction to anyone slightly different has abated, unfortunately though not gone away.

I've always tended to avoid pubs Zoo (places where people get drunk) but suspect the reaction might be even more intimidating these days.

Since I've had such a nice and friendly response from the public generally, I prefer sober people!

Pubs are ok, if nobody else is in them, and I like one`s that let me take my dog in, which are increasingly rare, and (apolgies for my bad habit), smoking allowed ones hardly exist!
