Derek took me to the British pub in Los Angeles and I had my long(ish) hair and the Drummer Boy jacket I'd bought in Portobello Road (which inspired John Lennon to buy one and it became the Sgt Pepper look) and the drinkers booed me when I came in!

Derek was amazed! I was not surprised. Then, as now, I tended to provoke reactions.

I've always tended to avoid pubs Zoo (places where people get drunk) but suspect the reaction might be even more intimidating these days. Since I've had such a nice and friendly response from the public generally, I prefer sober people!
