There's a delicious irony when they're let loose on Dylan's Forever Young or Bowie's Golden Years but, more than that, their performances have real power. This straightforward film chronicles the six weeks of rehearsals building up to a concert in the choir's hometown in Massachusetts. Fred and Bob are both frail but determined to overcome ill health and perform Coldplay's Fix You.

Full of humour, warmth and sadness, this is my documentary of the year.
