Sky News "Bald Elvis Impersonator" Story 17 Years, 4 Months ago
Well I had to laugh I`m afraid. Apparently the poor lad has recieved death threats for "showing no respect" and going on stage showing his bald head, whilst singing Elvis songs.
Well, he`s made international news now, and all the ones whinging under their silly insulting wigs must be very sick indeed!
There is obviously some PR behind this, but I applaud it, so many people forget Elvis and his sense of humour.
I don`t know how many of you remember an act called "The King", which covered songs like Nirvana etc in a Presley style. I thought it was a marvellous idea but our completely unclever management at the time pulled us out of the project.
Do I believe Elvis would have covered "Teen Spirit" had he been alive?
Simply, yes.

Exactly MM.
The mytholodgy surrounding his aura is quite incredible.
Have I mentioned a true story of my door bell ringing, and a guy in full Elvis costume, yes , with guitar, who sang me "Blue Suede Shoes" on my doorstep before saying hello? I fell into a big pool of embarrasment for him. His agent called me an hour later and asked me what I thought. I ducked and dived my reply for as long as I could.
Worse was to come a while later when a pair of dance instructors, appeared as I was making tea for the kids and performed a routine in my KITCHEN(!), whilst I was serving pasta.
Two very good reasons to stop being an agent I felt, ooh!.. and another Elvi popped round once, and continuingly played with the webbing holding his dodgy barnet on, as I said my farewells, it started to rain, and he held his head under my cars opened boot to avoid shrinkage.
Bald Elvis rocks!

Probably due, at least in part, to the fact that his manager / label stock-piled hundreds of photos just before he went into the army, and were still using some of these a decade later - thus maintaining his "eternal youth" image.

What a shock it must have been when they actually saw him in Vegas !!!!!!!!

The biggest shock I saw recently was his last recorded performance, which I think was in Vegas. He was led to a piano to play "Lonesome Tonight", it made me very upset to see the decay of his personality played out in public.
A tremendous upside to it all I can tell you about, is my friend called me from a soundcheck on the "Elvis"tour( the one with the big screen and no E),
and we assumed he was in a very noisy place , which of course he was.( He had the trumpet gig)
Ronnie Tutt, was soundchecking "CC Rider", a great moment in my touring times, to hear this live on a mobile phone.
Gawd I`m getting old, must write a book!....
