"Love" The Beatles 17 Years, 4 Months ago
I debated buying this album for quite a while, basically as my Beatles collection is already doubled up enough, the question has been did I need another Fab Four record?
As it turns out yes. This album is superb, it has been a long time since I have not been able to take a "new" disc out of the player. It`s totally addictive.
Openiing with an acapella mix of "Because" is genius, you imagine the guys with the curtain about to come up before flying into "Get Back" as it rises.
A lot of people have been commenting about what is NOT included in the mix, I see this as a collection of songs the band would have been playing live around the mid seventies together, without having to delve too far into their back catalogue, and when looked at like that it makes perfect sense. The live set nobody ever had the chance to see.
One flaw only for me, and that is the use of John Lennon with some studio back chat on "Day In the Life", we`ve had all that stuff on the Antholodgy set.
Buy it, or get it for Xmas, album of the year, and it`s the Beatles again after all these years still.

Martin,
There's a documentary about making the album on BBC1, Wednesday 27th December at 10.30pm.

Addictive watching ITK, and I`m sure we will watch it, I`m kind of a little afraid to have my vision spoiled on it if you know what I mean. It`s an album in which I can close my eyes and chill out and want to know little else about it.
But yeah, cheers for that, I shall record it and watch it when I`m ready to know more.
I find this an album in which I need the music only and no visuals. If only more music was still like that.
I just watched the video for "First Day Of My life" by Bright Eyes from last year, in which the opposite made me love the song, which I still believe will be a hit one day, when it is picked up by a decent film producer with a box office hit.
I adore Curtis Mayfield`s "Move on Up" as well, but to hear it is enough for me, and to watch the record going around is the visuals for it, the video for that for me, would be a still camera filming one of my turntables, playing it.
But yup, fascinating viewing, but only when I know the cd backwards! Ta.
