I envy her so much, she writes well and has this extra gift of having stories in her head to tell.
I do believe that everybody has at least one novel in them, mine was unfortunately not very good:( .
Can you imagine what goes on in her head all day? All the stories must be life consuming for her.

I've only read the first book, and found it poorly written, even for a first novel. I read it before I saw the movie, but I preferred the movie. Usually I prefer the books; for example The Client was much better in print. The movie diminished so many great characters and cut too many corners. I've heard that Rowling's writing gets better in later books, but I just haven't got round to reading them yet.

My favourite book ever, of that genre, is "the Little Grey Men" by the very mysterious B.B. pseudonymed person.
This could well become another list thread, uh oh!

I must say that the only reason I read Heller`s "Catch 22", was becuase it seemed like an elite club to know what a catch 22 actually was, and nobody was letting on!

There is a place for fast reading and writing though, Stepehen King does both kinds, elaborations and short stories. But this still entertains me about the ideas that inhabite the soul of a natural storyteller.

Writers - it will always be (thank God) one man's meat is another man's poison but I think JK Rowling is a terrific writer and have loved the Harry Potter books since the first, ten years ago.

Richard Griffiths will confirm that I gave copies to his kids, predicting huge success as I readied my compilation tribute album, Harry, Ron, Hermione and the Wizards.

As it happens I think Steven King is fantastic too. Like Spielberg, he's predictable but that's only because we fans now know all their tricks. Which doesn't make them any less effective.

As a matter of interest, I think Harry WILL survive Book Seven; I fear Hagrid may be a death; there is a massive surprise about Snape; Dumbledore will return...

But that's all guesswork. Write off the last week of July as far as I'm concerned!
