So H5N1 is here .... just another to add to the very very long list - foot and mouth, anthrax, salmonells, listeria, e-coli, etc etc etc.

Is anything that comes from British farms fit to eat?

Perhaps if farmers spent a little more time caring for their animals instead of organising sadistic fox hunts we might be a little better off?

But there again - what else would you expect from people who have (generally) lived in the same area / farm / valley for centuries and continually interbred with the farm next door?

Anyone for Bernard Matthews for tomorrow's lunch?

Hmmmm. I`m still rather into our Orkney steaks in the freezer, I think that counts as safe British food, served with Devon leeks and mushroom risotto, but I am cheating and using a french soft cheese to lace the rice.

It`s a bit of a swine about the turkey thing, I hate chicken but really like eating turkey, I hate looking them in the face though, they are so ugly!

I had a dream the other night...(o yes!), a turkey walked up to me and gulloped the words out "I have H5n1, you still want to eat my succulent flesh Mart???"

"Nah" .
I passed up and woke up in a horrid sweat!

Ok I might have made the last part of that up, it`s a shocking situation, years back , this made me into a veggie.

Don't you just love the media... the "grim task" of gassing all those turkeys... the "tragedy" of those poor turkeys having to be KILLED!

Sometimes I worry about our nation's sanity.

Exactly! I am yet to meet anyone with a pet bleeding turkey!
I do hope we have not offended turkey owners everywhere.
They are actually bootiful.

Looks like Mad Farmer disease is already in the shops 17 Years, 2 Months ago
Daily Express reporting plans to remove all turkey from UK shops.

Sales at supermarkets have already slumped.

Thank You, Mad Farmers !

I never took the desicion to only have organic meat in the house for this reason, however technically this could be better or worse, for infections. Who can say?
You can die from anything, I am one of those that will not get hysterical about the situation. I still have a turkey in the freezer and I will thaw it out when I feel like it and serve it.
I don`t believe this "outbreak" is about anything more than insurance claims or worries of them.

Stock up on the above (but don't rely on it!)

I wonder just how many new variant vCJD timebombs we have walking around already?

I must admit I did laugh for a full minute when I saw that picture. I felt guilt for a bit at the illness that people feel, then I felt, well what ever happens we are all going to get something.
Achey giblets? Thats` what I had for lunch!
