I have so many friends in Her Majesty's Estate who swore they were innocent and said they simply could not understand how the DNA tests showed them guilty when they were not.

Jurors, of course, take on faith the infallibility of experts.

Today - with the appalling revelations about the "expert" professor who ruined Sion Jenkins and Steven Clark's lives, followed by this extraordinary story - all those cynics who say guilty people always say they are innocent have further evidence that this may not be the case, and that innocent people, like myself, were, are and always have been telling the truth.

Not that there was any evidence at all in my case.

Just one liar's word, every time, against mine. Well at least they got well paid for it. And karma will kick in.

I remember seeing a report about DNA some years ago ... apparently there are "pointers" (like finger-print similarities) that are used to "match" the DNA.

Some people accept 7 "pointers" as proof, others apparently require 14 or 21, but in fact to be absolutely certain you could have many times more "pointers" before you can really accept 100% accuracy.

Have you noticed all the commentators are talking of how awful it is... criminals may have got away with it.

Very few are daring to notice there could be thousands of innocent men and women jailed as a result.

Society is almost incapable of seeing flaws in the structure.

It's just how the Nazis conned the Germans to allow the extermination of Jews.

Perhaps the idea that 'the structure' has flaws is too unsettling to contemplate. The myth that the baddy always gets it in the end is very prevalent.
