This quote SO annoys me; the same as politicians and other superficial fakes use all the time; no, their thoughts are not ever with friends and family unless individuals are personally connected.

The BBC said they will 'update with more information' when they have it, adding: 'Our thoughts remain with his family at this very difficult time.'

Sad that the likes of Sky and the Mail are using this as yet another excuse to bash the BBC. The BBC originally received this message from a recognised family source: "In a statement, Brian’s family said: “Our beloved Brian Matthew passed away last night. We ask that our privacy is respected at this time.” What was the BBC supposed to do - call back to ask, 'Are you SURE your loved one is dead? Have you held a mirror up to his mouth?' What would Sky and the Mail say if, every time the BBC received a family statement like this, they responded by questioning it? Cue double page spreads from mourning widows and grieving children moaning about BBC insensitivity. It's not the right time for any public finger-pointing, but the question should centre on why a family member sent the BBC that statement, not on why the BBC, in good faith, published it.
