Bizarre twist in Robert Hughes' case 7 Years ago
The doorstop reporter who tracked down Aussie actor Robert Hughes and 'confronted ' him has himself been arrest on allegations of possession of child abuse material.

Seems it was one of those events where someone chats to what they believe is a teen but it's a copper.

Why does anyone fall for this?

Yes isn't it odd how those who shout loudest turn out to be guilty of the very crimes they criticise? I noticed this in Her Majesty's Estate.

How interesting. He also did Rolf Harris accuser Tonya Lee's paid pre-trial "he touched me, he destroyed my life" TV interview and post-verdict "I'm gobsmacked, can't believe it" TV interview. Where's the Schadenfreude smiley?

HIs defence will be.....
Research tadah!

A great cover is it not for the intrepid investigative reporter.
"I was so disgusted by what I had seen on the screen I had to do something about it" so what was that, Bash one out in the nearest sink?

Perhaps that defence would be as useful to him as Rolf Harris and Robert Hughes' defences.

The Daily Mail certainly has got its teeth into him. Google results "Ben McCormack"

I gather he was caught talking to another on the net and allegedly sending child abuse material. I think it was a cop.

Had no idea he was involved in the Rolf case and this is some strange Karma however...

As much as I hate those tactics he is now being crucified with claims that he liked 'baby faced boys' (legal and none of the media's damned business.)
I've seen him around at various press events, never spoke to him and had no idea he was gay.

There are some odd things going on though..I note the copper who seems extremely creepy who arrested him is a lover of the cameras..he's featured in a few of these high profile busts and they seem staged to me and the media just happen to be on hand.

This bust seemed suspiciously staged..4 unmarked cop cars with flashing lights pulling over his car as he was on his way to work...and there just happened to be the media waiting in that very spot. Then the home raid etc etc. Nasty nasty stuff which means any trial will be at least a year off.

# could even be ramifications for the Hughes & Harris cases if his involvement becomes closely examined.

With any luck positive ramifications for Hughes and Harris.

It seems strange that this has been published - not just footage/audio of him being cautioned but also cameras tracking him right into what are presumably(?) police premises. The video on YouTube says "Courtesy: NSW Police Force". So perhaps they filmed it themselves?

oh they filmed it themselves and gave out edited versions to the media.

As I drive down that road every day it's a wonder I didn't see it.

It's also directly opposite the entrance to Fox Studios on a very wide road with little traffic. So obviously planned for dramatic effect when they usually go to someone's house at 6am.

This in itself is intensely unfair and they are now leaking damaging claims.

I hate how he operated as a journalist but that doesn't mean I support that these tactics are used against him.

It also means defense lawyers will be able to get the trial delayed for a very long time which puts his life in limbo. Just like Hughes & Harris !

That's astonishing.

Looks as if things have got to him.
