Interesting tone to the whole piece suggesting perhaps that all is now well, whatever one’s sexuality. But of course all that has happened in the interim is the focus of discrimination shifting onto another sexual minority group whose closeted constituents, out of fear of retribution, are given no chance to be who they are and are thus forced to live a lie.

“Males do not represent two discrete populations, heterosexual and homosexual. The world is not to be divided into sheep and goats. Not all things are black nor all things white. It is a fundamental of taxonomy that nature rarely deals with discrete categories. Only the human mind invents categories and tries to force facts into separated pigeon-holes. The living world is a continuum in each and every one of its aspects. The sooner we learn this concerning human sexual behavior, the sooner we shall reach a sound understanding of the realities of sex.” Kinsey, 1948.

I'm not quite sure which sexual minority group you are referring to, Peter.

I think that homophobia in the western world does still exist. For example, there are comparatively few out gays at the top in the legal/finance/banking/manufacturing worlds. Very different to the entertainment/music/fashion world, where being out gay is no drawback, if anything possibly an advantage.
