I'm thoroughly enjoying the Giles and Monica show on BBC2 (tonight 9pm) but tonight is the first hotel I know well (my friend was manager there). Watch and imagine me relishing it.
Fascinating to me; I've been there many times. But never downstairs in the staff areas - however I was shown around the brand new Movenpick, managed by my friend from Sousse, who gave me a guided tour before it opened; very similar indeed; miles of corridors and facilities.
Sadly my one negative in Morocco is the food; I don't enjoy the cuisine; I have a tagine or two each time I'm there but essentially eat Thai, French, Italian and even sometimes cook for myself.
Do watch it on iPlayer - I have spent so many days in homes like the one Giles visited; I find they nearly all speak French though; I've visited hundreds of homes over the past 50 years. Best book to read to get the feel? For me, The Spider's House by Paul Bowles.
