Extra Bank Holidays 7 Years ago
It's been in many manifestos and public don't care. Labour supporter's are just mainly students and lefties who hate to face real world.

Bank holidays to me are a great idea - giving the worker a short/sharp break every few months to recharge the batteries.

In the Lake District, Devon/Cornwall or on European city breaks.

Summer holidays should be reduced in favour of more long weekends; the important factor is planning and organisation - to get the best use of time.

Andrew, the Tory Ultra is already delivering pamphlets on the streets of Matlock Bath, Codnor and Ripley - just in case Ms May's bluff will be called.

Known also as ITK, the Wizard of the North - and champion of all sports and passtimes, as long as they involve dogs, gardening and posh people.

We already have one more Bank Holiday than we need or know what to do with. May Day!

Labour think they can win favour with the 'working class' by giving them more time off, shorter hours and by restoring power to the union. Policies similar to those which led the country to the famous Winter of Discontent.

Totally bonkers of course.

Abandon all bank holidays would be better!
1. Most aren't observed anyhow - all the shops are open.
2. It concentrates people wanting to move around and stay away to certain times - meaning prices rise at hotels etc., and traffic jams are created.

The sensible option would be to increase the legal minimum days holiday people are entitled to.

Who cares if some shops are open, or not?

The big advantage of Bank Holidays is that they give workers long weekend breaks - at regular periods, outside main holidays.

Easter, May, August, Christmas etc.

Do you actually think one longer Summer holiday is better?

Answering your questions. I don't care if shops are open or not. My point is that quite a few people are unable to take the day as holiday as they are working. As are lots of people in the service industries.

I'm not sure I agree with "long weekends at regular intervals". After New Years Day nothing until mid April. Then 4 Bank holidays in a matter of 6 weeks, then just one between end of May and Christmas.

No, I don't think one long Summer holiday is better. Some people might though. But by not having fixed dates, people can choose when to take their holidays, be it long weekends or weeks off. And by spreading holidays out a bit it will reduce the pressure on the transport infrastructure, and may mean people can take advantage of off-peak prices.

Close all shops petrol stations etc etc on Sundays and you have an extra 52 days off a year if you do not work in the service industry then you already have those days off.
No we do not need extra bank holidays as all the banks are closed down.

LET'S HAVE ATM DAYS !!!!

Eight bank holidays in 2018 is sufficient.

New years day. Two at Easter. Two in May, beginning and end. August Bank holiday. Two at Christmas.

Ideal - allowing for leisure/family time, travel, sport etc.

And allowing the workers to chill out...

The term 'bankle holiday' means nothing these days - just a dated term from bygone days!
