Not knowing anything about this, I Googled Basil Williams Rigby's name and found these:

I believed in British justice - completely

It really does sound as if Merseyside police were out to get him.

Child abuse verdicts unsafe

"Basil Williams-Rigby, 57, was convicted of 22 counts of abuse and jailed for 12 years in August 1999. Michael Lawson, 62, who served with Liverpool police for 15 years before becoming a social worker, was convicted of 17 counts of indecent assault and jailed for seven years in June 2000.

Lord Justice Kennedy, who heard the appeals last month together with Mr Justice Crane and Mr Justice McCombe, noted that in both instances the crown case had depended on "the evidence of complainants, all of whom, by the time they gave evidence, had criminal records"."

Criminals must think all their Christmases have come at once when they can not only earn thousands while subverting the justice system that put them in jail but also accuse a former police officer.

Oh Jo, so glad you found these; one of the points of Your Views is to bring these ghastly miscarriages of justice to the attention of millions - please spread the word. We're a kind of Bob Woffinden, Ludovic Kennedy of Social Media!
