Tory lead slashed; Tory media blame manifesto 6 Years, 11 Months ago
The Sunday Times blames the collapse in Tory lead in their latest poll to the manifesto. Wrong. It is because the more we, the public, hear and see of Corbyn the more we like him, noticing he's not the loony portrayed by the media. And we see May as the light weight she is, bleating truisms and cliches and talking "strong and stable", which she clearly isn't.

No wonder she doesn't want to do a debate. No wonder her advisors are suggesting she meets the people as little as possible. Every day the real May emerges, the more she is seen as exactly NOT the kind of leader needed. Big mistake, that election, Teresa.

The headlines could say "Labour would be winning - if they weren't losing !"

I saw this piece which shows just how desperate and clinging to straws they are -
www.topbuzz.com/article/i642143526053321...app_id=1106&c=fb

It says -

The poll shows the Conservatives on 49 per cent, and Labour on 34 per cent. Tony Blair won a majority in 2005 with 35 per cent of the vote, just one percentage point more.

Wow ... so there's hope then ???

Then in the very next line it also says -

The poll still suggests that Theresa May is on course for a major victory on June 8.

Mad ...utterly barking !

And ITK I suggest you contact that nice man from Down Under running the Tory campaign - Crosby will tell you that Tory policy is now to warn the electorate that Labour will win unless they get off their backsides and vote for horrid, cold May. I think he (and they) hope the polls will narrow and on June 7th show a Labour lead - inspiring those elderly, crusty, blind Tory voters to allow themselves to be collected by comfy Tory buses and taken in unashamed luxury to the polling station to put their wonky crosses in the right box. Whilst the younger and brighter Labour voters feel that, on a nice day, they would prefer to be surfing or playing football instead of bothering to do something boring like VOTE.

And the result? Probably an ever smaller majority for May to negotiate her ghastly Brexit from a weak and feeble position.

Often ITK though when I voted Lib Dem (because they were against killing innocent children in Iraq - then went into coalition and backed killing innocent Libyans) in 2010 they won.

Mmm ... they didn't "win" (they actually came third !) but the winning side didn't win outright either !

The biggest threat to a Tory landslide is the expectation of a Conservative landslide
– leaving Tory voters convinced that since May will win anyway, there’s no point in turning out to vote.

So please go on persuading us ITK! The coalition won in 2010 - best government in ages (apart from killing innocent Arabs).

Agree that a coalition is likely. May should/will not be given carte blanche at this crucial time...

You don't see Cameron or Osbourne campaigning for Teresa May, this is because they realise she is taking the country in the wrong direction, towards a hard brexit and back to grammar schools, and neglecting social care.

Don't need to, JK - everyone else seems to have noticed that the Tories have been in the lead in every opinion poll for the last 2 years ... apart from you !

Some get a little over-excited by a blip of 1 or 2 points .... but even if correct thats still a landslide in front !

During the run-up to any major election the polls go up and down with the wind.
I tend to ignore them.
What is more telling, in this case, is the number of people I know who normally vote Labour who are considering voting Conservative - mainly because of Brexit.
The only thing that seems certain is that UKIP are a spent force.

The subject of Labour's rise and the Tories fall in the polls was covered on the news tonight and a commentator was saying Theresa May had called the election in the hope of gaining the large majority that would reduce the influence of the extreme right-wingers and pro-hard-Brexiteers within her party.

So if the result of the improvement in Labour's performance is simply to deny her the large majority she wants rather than achieve a Labour government, it could have the effect of making a hard Brexit more likely.

The "blip" still leaves the Tories about 10 points ahead, and is likely to be fully reversed once the campaign launches its full force against terrorist-sympathizer Jeremy Fruitcake.

Can he find any new depths to sink to?

He will use his "appeal to anyone" (more cash for nurses / police / teachers / students / Unions / Loonies etc)
campaign to now claim that he could reduce terror attacks!

Foreign policy is far too complicated for a Fruitcake to understand.

Promise them anything ....

(a) if you lose it doesn't matter anyway, and
(b) if you win you can do a "Brexit" (and renounce your main campaign claim - £350 million? - within days !

Talk about an opportunist looking for an opportunity !

Don't be fooled by a single poll - taken in the wake of the Manchester bombing.

18 months of continual polling saying the public hate Corbyn can't ALL be wrong !

Recent polls show the Labour party recovering slightly to an average of about 31%. That’s roughly the vote share they achieved in 2015, which might lead you to assume they’ll win a similar number of seats.

In fact, after adding regional trends to the model we used to investigate the Brexit impact a few weeks ago, and feeding in the most recent poll from each of the 8 main polling companies, Labour still look set to lose dozens of seats. The 232 seats they have now could be reduced to between 164 and 173 seats, with the Tories winning 406 to 417.

Could be as high as a 225 seat majority - the biggest ever?
