Two more celebrities 'to be named soon' as Savile sex abuse detectives widen their net
"The alleged victims of the pair approached mediator Mark Williams-Thomas in the last 48 hours, but have not yet spoken to police…. Mediator Mr Williams-Thomas has been acting as a go-between between victims and police since the Savile scandal came to light.
The former detective said the two celebrities are among a number of new names which could be 'of interest' to the police."
What kind of crime victim approaches a journalist rather than police? Why does a crime victim need a go-between? What does the go-between role involve and does it affect the evidence and how it is collected, especially if it is anecdotal? Is it appropriate for a journalist to act as go-between, especially if the evidence is anecdotal?
