TOPIC: RIP Roger Moore 89
#162056
RIP Roger Moore 89 6 Years, 11 Months ago
I loved him as a character and actor and remember him in the Dorothy Squires days but I thought he ruined Bond with those awful jokes and puns and irritating raised eyebrow.

His portrayal of Bond seems to get a lot of criticism, but I liked the humour he brought to it.

As someone who absolutely hates the wildly over-hyped and po-faced Bond movies of today, I liked Roger's version. And what a kind and funny gentleman he was.

I must say that I'm more inclined to JK's view on Sir Roger's portrayal of Bond than Jo's.

That said, I loved his portrayal of Brett Sinclair in The Persuaders and I had the strong impression, at least as far as his TV interviews were concerned, that he was an engaging, self-deprecating and good-humoured man. Always sad to see a talented and basically good individual pass out of our lives.

My favourite Roger Moore movie was 'North Sea Hijack' where his character hated women. So different to his normal roles.

When he became Bond, he just carried on his 'Saint' personality. I prefered his version of Bond. The role needed lightening up.

I'm so glad Roger kept his attempt at creating a musical career short.

Sir Roger Moore interview: 'I don’t want to be remembered, I’m not planning on going'

"Do you think you were under-rated as an actor?

Oh yes, I am vastly under-rated, and nobody realised how modest I am."

He appears to have been a delightful man; as we heard in the business for many years.

Bond just used women as sex objects.
