TOPIC: Councils over react again
#163468
Councils over react again 6 Years, 9 Months ago
Typical over reaction and government stupidity. Now Sajid Javid spouts all the usual May cliches (“people’s safety is our priority”) and local councils, terrified that fires will now sweep tower blocks, tell everyone to get out at 1.00 in the morning. Just like the “paedos under every bed” brigade.

... all whipped-up by the Loonies of course.

They would have been condemning the government if nothing had been done.

You'll be surprised to hear, ITK; I don't blame the Loony Left; I blame the May woman who believes and fears the media. "Ooh Prime Minister the cladding is the same, what shall we do?". "Evacuate immediately; if there's another fire the media will destroy us if we don't evacuate". Stupid woman hasn't learned her lesson (believe the media and you might think you'll win a landslide snap election).

amazing that no-one sees the possible legal ramifications and why Councils are not only correct but legally obliged to warn residents now they have discovered a service they provide could be deadly.

note : the residents are not being frog marched out of their buildings.

This is no different to car manufacturers or indeed the manufacturers of any goods that are found to have a possible ( and deadly) fault and they recall them to be fixed.

They bloody well have to by law or they could be (rightly) sued to Kingdom Come just as anyone on here would do so if they were not warned their washing machine could explode at any time.

I suppose the same people who moan that councils are "over reacting" probably ramble on about "restrictive health and safety" laws that ensure their frigging car has brakes that work.

And you wonder why Grenfell happened in the first place.

To WARN them; yes absolutely. To EVACUATE them - no; especially not during the night as Camden Council have done.

how dare you contradict me.

I'm surprised Slater & Gordon haven't sent teams of paralegals to every council block.
