For me, Doctor Who finished in the 90s. What came later was just something with the same name but none of the substance, so this latest wacky idea is no real surprise. It is, in effect, a different show.
Those who were not fans of the original series, mostly like the new one, and probably don't even know how this gender change doesn't fit with the original concept.
For 4 decades it was my favourite TV show. But it always was just a TV show. I accepted it's death last century, and I moved on.
It's a bit like if Pete Best's son bought the rights to The Beatles and formed a new band under that name. The new band might be popular with a new generation of fans, but it still would not truly be The Beatles.
Good luck to Jodie Whittaker, but I won't be watching.
