you watch Against The Law on BBC2 tonight; I've been a Daniel Mays fan ever since Mike Leigh discovered him (he was stunning as Vera Drake's son). Those of you too young to remember when being Gay or Bisexual was illegal; watch it and weep. I'm told it is terrific. But don't go thinking Homophobia has gone away. It is just underground, often publicly replaced by Paedophobia.
I met Edward Montagu several times (I remember describing him to a friend as having "eyes like mad bees"). This covers some of his experiences. But I wonder whether it will dare reflect the similarities between Homophobic police behaviour in 1967 and Paedophobic police behaviour in 2017 - both encouraged by the media.
