lowest unemployment rate for 40 years ! 6 Years, 8 Months ago
32.1 million people have jobs !

Incredible.

Wait for the dole scroungers to whimper "there are no jobs out there"

... plenty of jobs - for those who want them.

It depends on what type of job and what type of person is looking. It seems there are not enough jobs for unskilled people, and you need qualifications for the most trivial things these days.

Agree with all that, Honey.

Large regional variations are also factors.

The centres of Newcastle and Sunderland are dire - empty/charity shops etc. Because they lost the ship building, steel and coal industries.

Now, 5/6 generations of families have never worked - and never will.

Grimsby and Stoke are similar - because of the virtual demise of fishing and pottery there.

Walking down Park Lane or Belgravia, you would be forgiven for thinking you were no longer on earth - if you lived in places like those mentioned.

Canterbury for instance it's great getting a part time but they will go to students. Even some employers have told me that. Hope the DWP have scrapped the work programmes to fix some figures.

I don't sign on anymore.

More jobs and a decrease in unemployment is good news.

Comments of Honey and Spee excellent and in line with known facts

"... plenty of jobs - for those who want them" is not true and is misleading. It is a typical loony political statement. ITK is right about loony left but he just excluded the loony right. Very sad and destructive but politicians from all sides I tend to think of as "guilty" of been loony to use ITK's word. And innocent of been loony when they show themselves not to be loony by consistent voting, policies and actions that demonstrate that they are innocent of the crime of been loony.

There will always be, even probably in the great depression of the 1920's, locations in need of workers for some project or new discovered resource and also small pockets of skilled labour needed.

It is really hard to really know the real extend of jobs needed to meet the "no excuse" level for someone not finding a job. One indicator of the sheer need of more jobs and support, is the economically inactive figure.

"Office for National Statistics

2017 APR-JUN

LFS: Economically Inactive: UK: All: Aged 16-64: Thousands: SA

8,765,000

Release date: 16 August 2017"

In the almost 9 million figure there will be some who have a sufficient pension income already, some of independent means and those unable health wise to work.

There will be others like myself who have managed to survive who could have done with work if it was really available. I have survived by renting out my London home and living in my holiday home in Thailand. This has been possible due to the low interest rates. But next step with imminent rate increases is to sell and invest elsewhere and hope for the best. And many other difference scenarios as well.

A bit meaningless but with this value one of the few real figures to highlight the scale of the shortfall. To say there are jobs for all then around 40 million need to be in work not 32 million (32m + 8m = 40m) The point is not just the number of registered unemployed make the required jobs figure but many other areas need to added in.

Last important point that leaders need to realise is the from last two or more economical cycles covering roughly an 18 - 20 year time period from a crash to next crash. So now in the last 8 - 10 years estimate (if pattern continues, that is) and the last years before the next crash is more jobs and all on the positive rise then CRASH

We don't need unskilled - ie uneducated - people any more.

Why should we continue to fund these scroungers when we have already forked out huge sums on their education and they still cannot read?

Then the money was wasted on crap teachers!
We need to spend it on something that benefits us and them, with practical skills for those who are inclined. Not everyone is academic but a suitable education can make the most of what they have.
Encouraging dependence does nobody any good.

Glad that the government are scrapping Learn direct courses, worse courses as they are normally ran by bogus employers or managers.

If we don't need unskilled people then who's going to work at tesco, lidl etc and serve your food and drinks at bars and restaurants. This kind of work is mainly be taken over by your foreign mates from Eastern Europe or Pakistan who come over here groom young girls, commit acts of terror, commit trafficking offences, pick pocketing. Watch any episode of crime watch recently and most of the wanted posters are of people of Eastern European or asian descent, mention this fact like Sarah Champion and you are toast. More people are working than ever, however productivity hasn't increased, which leads me to beleive that foreign workers aren't productive.

The same "crap" teachers that have just produced some very good A levels results, honey! ????

The education is there for those that want it - those that do not should not expect us to support them for the rest of their lives.

Never let your girlfriend go in to a kebab house alone, she will be eyed up, chatted up and asked out. Then her partner goes in to a jealous rage and rightly so.

They hate western women but love the sex whilst despising the British women and her values.

They don't want love just have a woman as a possession.
