For ITK. 6 Years, 7 Months ago
www.theguardian.com/business/2017/aug/28...al-victoria-pavilion

Can anyone tell me the fascination with Wratherspoon's the food is cold or overcooked. The managers are rude and don't own up...it's customers fault or you're fussy.

Ramsgate is an awful coastal town on a waste land called Thanet. (Two go together) Just hope the staff give away free contraception with every pint and shot.

Nice building, andrew (Mrs ITK thinks it would make a nice tea room !)

I suppose we ought to be grateful - at least Wetherspoon are expanding (whereas other pubs are closing rapidly).

Jobs, too ....

But could it also be a strain on the QEQM hospital in Margate.

You have made a good point ITK, the building was closed for years and left to ruin along with copper wire being stripped out.

Thanet does lack steady jobs and cleaning jobs which are well paid are mostly for Eastern Europeans.

Funny enough our local Marks and Spencer's is top notch for tea and coffee. And if you want a good English breakfast go to Morrisons.

Wetherspoons don't pretend to be perfect - but they have had a big impact, in about 1,000 town centres. This is the number of outlets they have, after c30 years trading.

As well as pubs, they are coffee shops, restaurants, cafes and meeting places. Almost always near a tube or train station; trading from 8am until late.

No music, sitting at the bar, pool/darts, TV (except news sub-titles) - and those with children have their alcohol intake limited!

Biggest pub chain in the country - based on a simple formula. Good value too...

Yes both customers and staff. Got in to a lovely argument with a customer trying to chat up my missus.

And one manager in another train argued that that the pasta was fine when it was undercooked, so i got barred immediately from that pub.

Never stepped in to another branch again.
