TOPIC: cancel Brexit !

cancel Brexit ! 6 Years, 6 Months ago
A political decision to reverse Brexit would have a "significant" positive impact on the UK economy, according to a leading global think-tank.

The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) said growth could be boosted if a second referendum or "change of majority" were to cancel the decision to leave the European Union.

The latest survey by the Paris-based OECD projects economic growth of just 1% in next year.

It sees the uncertainty surrounding Brexit negotiations as meaning that the UK is likely to be without a free-trade agreement with the EU by its official exit date in 2019.

Having those who voted for it shot, is optional (but recommended) !

If they ignored the OECD's warnings before, I doubt that most Leave voters would heed them now. I suspect that Brexit is going to have to go ahead for there to be any chance of Leave voters feeling any pain and connecting it to their vote - which they probably won't do anyway. Much easier to blame someone else!

Indeed ... even the warning from Sainsburys chief this week - that fod prices will rise by 22% - won't be listened to.

As usual, they make a daft decision and then blame everyone else !

I was one of the majority who voted for Brexit, and I have no regrets.

good analysis -

In a 2017 report “A Food Brexit: time to get real”, Professors Tim Lang, Erik Millstone and Terry Marsden say that “the implications of Brexit for food are potentially enormous”. They point out that “the UK food system, consumer tastes and prices have been thoroughly Europeanised. This would be impossible to cut out or back by March 2019 without enormous consequences”.

This well could be the only sensible & sane thing ITK has ever said.

It will be noted on his record and when he is the the Maximum Security Tory Re-Eduction Unit ( Motto: "you can check in but never check out" ) after Comrade Corbyn takes control I'm recommending he receive and extra bread roll each week.

Comrade Corbyn STILL hasn't decided whether he's for Brexit or not !!!

As an eternal opportunist, he'll wait and see which side looks as if it can do most damage - then rush and join them.

Yes you bury your head - to possible alternatives.

A no-deal Brexit (a realistic possibility) will wipe £40 billion off our economy.

So says the OECD. The distinct lack of meaningful progress is worrying¡

Just like Juncker and Barnier holding the aces - is somewhat reminiscent bringing a knife to a gunfight...

We all seem to agree on here (except Paul and Andrew) that Brexit was a mistake and should be reversed.

The so-called "No Deal" is the most likely option (and always was to those intelligent enough to see the consequences of Brexit).

We don't want to be in the club - but we want all the benefits of being in the club.
Every heard anything so absurd?

Try approaching your local golf club and telling them that you will not pay a joining fee, will not pay any subscriptions but still want all the benefits of membership.

I think I know where they will tell you to go !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We - Remainers - always knew there would be a huge cost in lost jobs, collapsing economy, shrinking pound and massive imports duties ... we TOLD you so, but you chose to ignore it (and called it scaremongering, when in reality it was common sense)

The golf club analogy has been quoted before - as well as the 'we told you (¡) so' smugness.

Facts; we have an inept political party attempting to extract the UK from a club - from which it costs to leave.

Zero progress so far - except clear indications that our negotiators are comparable to estate agents!
