Will Jon Ronson come to a sticky end? 6 Years, 5 Months ago
How Jon Ronson gloated, how he befriended JK, only to shit on him from a great height. And then I find that his book The Men Who Stare At Goats when turned into a film adaptation starred err...Kevin Spacey. Now, I'm no expert and Spacey's antics may have not been so good, but he is not the devil currently portrayed. When I read the complaint of Anthony Rapp I thought: Is that it? So, he invites the teenager back to his flat, where he is having a party. He retreats to Spacey's bedroom bored. And what do you know, when he finds said youth alone in bedroom everyone else having left, he thinks Christmas has come early and comes on to him! What did he think he would do - finding a youth lying on his bed - show him his stamp collection? Then other claims include two 16-year-olds were offered cocktails in his flat, he had a porn movie on his television, and they left feeling that all things were not quite right. If that needs counselling, then frankly we're fucked as a nation. I'm not calling Spacey a saint, far from it, but really people need to get a grip. And then there's our friend, Ronson. It's amazing how karma eventually kicks in, doesn't it? And how sad that nobody has pointed out that Harvey Weinstein and Kevin Spacey were avowed anglophiles, and that our nation will suffer in its culture as a result of their absences. Can you imagine any other American but Weinstein arguing with distributors: 'I've got this great movie that's been pitched to me, it's so obviously an Oscar winner I can't believe anybody came up with the idea before. It's about the King of England. He has a speech impediment and he is scared of public speaking, then he overcomes his fear and makes public speeches. It's a hit.' Neither Spacey or Weinstein are saints, but get used to seeing only American themes at the Oscars in future.
