This splendid series (better than most Prime Time TV) must be seen on iPlayer if you missed it.

I always thought of him as a better looking and more talented Richard Burton. I first saw (and liked) him in Magic (I loved the book and liked the film).

Burton and he were both Port Talbot chaps - and, in their early years, the Dylan Thomas influence helped them.

Under Milkwood was performed - in one man shows - by both, from memory. Recordings are still available - recalling 'the tidy wives'....

Even the diction is remarkable - with the Welsh (real) accents describing the fictional south Wales 'bible black' village.
