The official name, in English (in which most type on here) for the Republic of Ireland - is Ireland.

As set out in the country's 1937 Constitution - and acknowledged, for many years by (for example), by the UN.

Eire is a different language and rarely used these days - although still can be seen on the country's coinage etc.

Sadly - due to abject governance and corrupt politicians - Ireland was virtually bankrupt in recent years.

It's almost like the police there want to actually try and get to the truth of the matter..

Simply trying to be helpful for those who've never heard of a country called Eire - which is not included in any list of countries.

The Romans who never settled there called the island Hibernia - and false accusations, and the like, are as common there as anywhere.
