Rose McGowan's ex-manager kills herself: Family of Jill Messick, who represented the actress when she was 'raped' by Weinstein, say she took her own life after being 'slandered' into the scandal
'Messick's family revealed the executive had suffered privately from depression and at least one manic episode ...
This comes after the January 30 release of McGowan's book, Brave, which claims Messick did little to help her after she confided in her about the alleged attack by Weinstein. ...
The family went on to say that having her name wrapped up in allegations of sexual misconduct against McGowan, allegedly perpetrated at the hands of Weinstein and by implication with her aid, was too much for Messick, who 'was just starting to get her life back on track' after suffering a manic episode five years ago.
'What makes Rose’s inaccurate accusations and insinuations against Jill ironic was that she was the first person who stood up on Rose’s behalf, and alerted her bosses to the horrific experience which Rose suffered,' the family added.'
Somehow I doubt that this development will give Rose McGowan pause.

From the article, it looks as if her manager thought at the time that McGowan was embellishing her story. Stripping off and climbing into a hot tub with him, taking a settlement, then crying rape years later. She sounds like a willing member of the casting couch who decided to cash in, then cry rape years later to promote herself and sell a book.
McGowan is a complete fanatic as can be seen in that video of her responding to a transgender woman at her book signing.
It's amazing that no-one has questioned her or even spotted the careful planning of her book release and her timing as to when she made her first statement.
I'm not buying her rape claim. You do NOT go to a top producer's bedroom (one who everyone knew loved starlets) and get into his hot tub.
I reckon she did the old casting couch number and has no re-framed this as an assault.
Doesn't mean the Casting Couch system is right but there isn't a soul who enters Hollywood who doesn't know it exists and it's up to them whether they want to participate.
One death, the absolute destruction of careers upon claims alone..the cowardice of Hollywood heavies like the Oscar's Academy..the manner in which the media (even the respected ABC in Oz & Craig McLachan) jumping on the bandwagon to accuse & destroy without a thought of the results..all symptoms of a Witch Hunt?
I still like Marylin Monroe's description of Hollywood..a giant brothel.

I have to say she does come across affected in her book signing video. Shes making a living the only way she can now as her movie career is all but over. I don't understand the anger towards the woman. Her story seems plausible to me so isn't criticising her equal to condemning those that have been falsely accused? The whole thing stinks of hypocrisy.
I don't think she's plausible, stripping off then climbing into a hot tub with him, then claiming a settlement (what kind of crime victim takes a settlement?), turning up virtually naked to the MTV awards the following year and standing smiling next to him at a 2007 film premiere. Judging from photos on Google, he even had his arm round her and it's not the only photo where she's posing smiling next to him ( Google images).
