TOPIC: Britain's prisons
Britain's prisons 3 Weeks, 5 Days ago Karma: 50
A disaster - all down to useless May. Former Prison officers are horrified by the state. One said she had to rely on other prisoners saving her life because there aren't enough officers. I've been warning about this for 18 years. There will be a mass breakout, organised to take place at 40 or 50 jails simultaneously and the ensuing tragedies must be placed at May's door.

Labour and Tory governments have slashed the budget.

We now have the biggest prison population in Europe.

About 87,000 - more than our Armed Forces, which also has a reducing budget!

Conditions will continue to deteriorate badly, as the Tories have no great history on prisons.

It's just an easy budget to cut - less complaints and fewer champions and supporters...

I dont take them and never been tempted but legalise drugs...Most burglaries down to it and street robberies. Treat it as a medical issue, educate youngsters. This will slash the prison population and seriously screw organised crime in one go...
