So what will happen? Well, if I was Putin I would apologise profusely, say how appalling it is that some rogues have grabbed this vile stuff (which, incidentally, we are no longer making and strongly disapprove of) and that peace loving Russia will track down the culprits and deal with them. Then I would grab a couple of sex offenders, get them to admit to poisoning with stolen nerve agents because their brothers died because of his treachery, and shoot them. The world will complain about capital punishment.

Meanwhile May will issue threats and make statesmanlike noises about not wanting the innocent to suffer through not seeing the World Cup, send Putin a fiver to make sure England wins, tell him not to mention it, give him our mutual friend Donald's love and get on dealing with Brexit.

There's a lot she could do; such as ignore this stupid media storm (hey; two attempted murders, nothing else) and get on with running the country; change the law on sex claim evidence; tell the police to concentrate on more important matters (like terrorism, of which these attempted murders are a part); scrap Brexit; boost trade; straighten out the NHS...

Totally agree and I am makinng the same point...this russia stuff is about politics/posturing with no end game. Get on with "running" the country...
