They are really starting to fear a boycott now, aren't they?

there is now no alternative but for a further escalation by the West.

All 25 countries (supporting the UK) - so far - have taken some steps, and held others in reserve.
No option now but to increase the pressure.

Governments have been extremely clever to "hold the major sanction in reserve" and the Russians have been so stupid as to fall for it.

When the weapons inspectors report - and there is little or no doubt what their verdict will be .... then further punishment is inevitable.

Some of us have been able to see this all along, but others (too busy playing with their silly little footballs) have not had the foresight.

Trump calls Assad an animal !

US President Donald Trump has warned Russia they will have a "big price to pay" for backing the Syrian regime after a suspected chemical attack.

All ratcheting-up now .... just like I said it would !

No withdrawals - and a couple of months to go¡ 6 Years ago

Why should they?

Most of the finalists have said they'll be there and are all playing numerous friendlies to make sure they 're fit and ready.

And significantly, team has said they will not compete - including England.

significantly no* team

If a finalist did pull out at this stage - it would be a VERY long time before they were even allowed to play even a pre-qualification match again!

And such action - inconceivable at this stage - would also have a serious and negative reaction on the economy of a boycotting country.

Undoubtedly, this is one of the reasons why nations are being quite - saying nothing and getting on with their preparations.

Putting a hand up at the UN - and telling a few diplomats to stay at home - are the easier options...

Israel's Sephardi Chief Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef responded Sunday to reports of a deadly chemical attack on a rebel-held city in Syria and said Jews have a moral obligation to end the "cruel genocide" taking place...

ITK will simply obfuscate and divert to his agenda.

Which includes 'the Russians are to blame for everything' - 'we're still paying off Labour's debt' - 'will stop again when we're passing'.

Either a classic windup merchant, or a buffoon - is ITK...

McCain calls on America to bomb Syria !

The statement from the hawkish chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee came hours after Trump tweeted that there would be a "big price to pay" for an alleged chemical weapons attack in Syria. Trump's tweets pinned blame for the situation there on Russian President Vladimir Putin's support for Assad and former US President Barack Obama's past policy in the war-torn nation.

McCain approved of Trump's decision last year to launch a missile strike on a Syrian airfield in response to another alleged chemical weapons attack and called on the President to do the same this year.

... then we call all pop along and play a silly little game of football .... lol !

within hours .... it happens !

Todays missile strikes on Syria will almost certainly have come from Israel.

The US has denied involvement (but will strike soon).

... and in the middle of all this,
we are supposed to play a silly little game of football
- just to keep some silly little boys happy?

In The Know has "read" this right all the way, and as this situation escalates, I expect the number to withdraw from the World Cup to be huge (it only takes one to start it off).

How can this proceed when we are "at war" with the hosts?

Paris (CNN)Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad appears to have once again turned chemical weapons on his own people.

How the US responds is going to be the first big challenge for John Bolton on his first official morning as President Trump's new national security adviser.

It is as much a remembrance of things past -- as France and the United States seem on a path toward joint military punishment of the Syrian regime -- as it is a challenge to Donald Trump of the consequences both of action and inaction.

And Bolton, like his boss, has never shied from a good fight, or at least a plausible threat.

The statements late Sunday from both Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron appeared to leave little doubt.

America and France ... joint attack ... within 48 hours?

Best World Cup ever? 6 Years ago
More links and predictions - direct from Codnor!

The World Cup will be boycotted; everyone will join in; DON'T go - types ITK, from before dawn.

Well, the world at large is apathetic; all teams are getting their team suits fitted; and playing friendlies.

Business as usual...

White House: British football fans should 'think twice' before going to Russia World Cup
www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2018/04/08/whit...-twice-going-russia/ (20 hours ago)

sometimes ... the silly little boys need protecting from themselves !

We all know they are incapable of behaving (they have shown it so many times)

Now that Russia has kicked-out all "spare" British diplomats there will be NO ONE to save them !

Perhaps we should encourage ore to go?
Will the vast majority just stay at home and play with their sticker-books?

Or will it all collapse - like a stack of dominoes - as I have been saying all along (and am being proved right with each and every day that passes)?

Some facts:-

1. You are not being proved right

2. Delusional - yes (being compelled to tell us you have a new car/computer/holiday) etc.

3. The World Cup is proceeding as normal

4. And the Tories who doubled the Debt in 8 years are always right

5. GOOD for a laugh though.

6. Certainly the most interesting poster here, including me - excepting JK.
