Just noticed 5 Years, 9 Months ago

I was reading a Mail article about the trial.I may have misunderstood, but something about claimed dates did not seem to fit.
'In April 1970, he pulled up alongside a 15-year-old on Tottenham Court Road in his white Daimler Sovereign Saloon and asked whether he wanted to help him promote some records.'
'They listened to 'Same Old Song' and 'Hooked on a Feeling' while King plied him with more booze.'
Wiki discography for Jonathan King
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jonathan_King#Singles_discography
1971 release '"Hooked on a Feeling" / "I Don't Want To Be Gay"'
The original was of course released in 1968 by BJ Thomas..
And finally confusing info for 'same old song'
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/It%27s_the_Same_Old_Song#Cover_versions
In 1971, Jonathan King covered the song with a completely different arrangement under the name The Weathermen and his version reached the UK Top 20 selling over 250,000 copies
I do apologise if this post is not apprepriate,my apologies if so.

Good spot, Silent Minority.
It got me thinking about the Daimler... In the 70s, Daimler cars were exactly the same as Jaguar models but with a Daimler logo. If JK pulled alongside someone, it wouldn't be apparent that the car was a Daimler, which is a lesser known brand than Jaguar. If fact, it wouldn't be apparent even if you sat inside.
Daimler isn't a very well known make and didn't sell many compared to Jaguar equivalents. I conclude that this is a contrived attempt to inject some credibility into the account by including a "small but significant" detail which is very unlikely to have been possible to notice at the time.
I'm afraid, JK, that it looks like the cops or their allies have been suggesting things to your accusers again.

A BMX features too. The alleged mode of transport of the 14-year-old supposedly employed as a waiter by Claridge's.
Something that seems puzzling. According to the Daily Mail article about this man's accusations "King, of Bayswater, denies 17 charges of indecent assault on males aged between 16 and 21." So what about the alleged 14-year-old? Are they including extra accusers claiming offences he has not been charged with, as they did with Rolf Harris? The article mentions 11 accusers ("Prosecutor Rosina Cottage, QC, earlier told jurors how King carried out sexual assaults on 11 teenage boys in the 1970s and 1980s."). I wonder if he has been charged with offences against them all, or if some of them are "extras".
It is possible that the prosecution had to change a lot of witness testimony and the news reports are now almost non existence as the age now altered to 16 and above now legal retrospectively changed by law from my limited reading, so trial story now lacks interest even more so from the media. The white Daimler is in JK's book but he was not allowed to drive at the time so had a chauffeur. Also may have been purchased near to the beginning of 1971 and the song released "...feeling..." whatever it is called August 1971 or later in 1971. So I just wonder that the 16 - 21 is not a misprint or anything but a forced change as the real facts just keep getting highlighted but the Daily Mail found a way to include 14 by leaving the statement "... started to work at 14..." . Another funny thing about the £5 note for a taxi. If the alleged pickup was from the centre of London would not the individual concerned already had the money or some way home so anything extra would be a bonus. Sorry, can't be bothered to check if the reported amount was £5. In 1970 if that was the case the Thisismoney website estimates it's purchasing power in today's money at £78 (only a guide as different items relative costs vary like computers that have drooped considerably in actual price over the years).
It is once again an annoying system of a supposedly open society justice system where there are almost no public reports and often non-interest from the media. It's a pity that all court and case activity is not recorded and detailed with public access both in the present and historically and readily available via the internet either free or at minimal cost, in the interests of justice. They are supposedly public hearings with the assumption of transparency to avoid court personnel and others from rigging cases for or against the accused!!!!

not sure it's best to discuss this on here.
I think you're right. Maybe whoever moderates the board should delete the thread.
I imagine whoever is moderating the thread has been advised what is suitable or not?
I certainly wont mind if my posts are deleted or withheld
One thing I thought was a bit odd in the Mail account of court was that the boy's friend in the restaurant described Mr king as " a famous DJ". Is this actually what he was known for at this time? because if so, it passed me by.
