What a shower. You do have to wonder about people like that.
An apt comment, I think, from under the article:
"Grown men (and women) sitting behind their computer screens pretending to be children and talking 'dirty' to adults ...I for one find that very creepy."
Another interesting comment:
"I had exactly the same experience with them. I disagreed with their methods and they threatened me with r a pe and violence. I had to alert the police and my child and I were put under police watch. They closed their FB group down shortly after they were visiting by the police, who told us that the people involved in these groups were actually criminals themselves, using donated funds to top up their benefits"
From the article:
"Gemma began to doubt whether these people were best qualified to be safeguarding children. Professor Liz Yardley, a criminologist at Birmingham City University agrees."
I was wondering why the Mail didn't contact MWT himself, since I remembered that he had some connection with Birmingham City University, and he does indeed have a
page there, but it describes him as a "TV presenter and child protection expert", not as a criminologist. He describes himself as a criminologist, amongst other things, on his Twitter page. Wonder why the university doesn't.
