JK, I'm not sure whether you're aware of the work of John Ziegler on the Penn State debacle, but the case is a facinating parallel to what happened in the UK with Savile at pretty much the same time.

I've read Zieglar's writings on the Sandusky case and it makes for compelling reading..Sandusky, of course, became the USA's Jimmy Savile.

But with one big difference..the Sandusky claimants got FIVE MILLION DOLLARS each. Including Sandusky's adopted son who very very late in the trial suddenly claimed he was abused and yes..he got $5Million as well.

Now there are pretty desperate people in the UK who would sell their Grandma for some compo but I reckon they sell the entire family and the one next door for $5M

If you really want to solve the problem of sexual abuse abolish compo! The real abused will still pursue those who betrayed them like furies from hell, let no-one doubt that. But all the people who got in ambiguous situations probably won't bother and will just tell themselves that if it happens again I'll give the so and so a good slap. Just like the good old days before we were all encouraged to believe we were tragic victims rather than the average, ordinary people that most of us actually are!
