TOPIC: You're a decent man
#179851
You're a decent man 5 Years, 8 Months ago
You coach young footballers or you're a doctor looking after women who find lumps in their breasts or a priest who comforts the bereaved or a teacher who tries to educate and suddenly there is a knock on your front door. Within seconds it is crashed in. You are violated, raped and sent to jail for years - yet you are innocent. All of a sudden you feel sympathy for Bill Cosby or Jimmy Savile or Kevin Spacey or Barry Bennell - perhaps celebrity media victims were innocent all along? But it is too late.

What are the odds that one football coach/teacher/doctor/priest/celebrity could be falsely accused of historical sexual abuse by tens or even hundreds of people?

What are the odds that one hotel manager could be falsely accused of food poisoning by 200 people?

I wonder if the type of people who go on package holidays are more likely to lie, or if it is the whole nation?

There is now a whole "underclass" of almost sociopathic (in their actions) people who now holiday abroad on those cheap package holidays (courtesy of the EU !) and really, and it's almost understandable, they have become immoral and see no problem in ripping off anyone or any firm.

They've seen for 2 decades now completely immoral governments..the New Tories & New Labour who govern For The Few & Not The Many. Who criticise and demonize the poor who are potless because of their own actions ( I won't name names although ITK comes to mind in this respect and he does his investigations thoroughly by peeking into every window to see what the proles are up to...hint: having more ghastly ankle biters so they can get even more handouts and a bigger council house).

This hits every aspect of society as the underclass see their "betters " are amoral so why not they as well?...fraudulent whiplash injuries, Jimmy Savile groped me at the BBC, a celebrity I once saw along with 100s of others in a hall put his hand down my knickers in front of everyone..and so on.

So naturally when they see a new scam..Joe & Edna Bloggs down the road got some compo when they said they were poisoned at the buffet at Benidorm El Cheapo Hotel, of course, they say "I'll be having some of that thank you..pay for the holiday"

"But last year Miguel was hit by around 200 claims alleging food poisoning. Every single one was from a British holidaymaker, with not a single complaint coming from the Germans or the Dutch. ... British claims firms, many of whom once wooed motorists and their passengers with offers of big payouts for whiplash injuries, have turned their attention to UK holidaymakers, encouraging them to claim compensation for food poisoning."

I wonder if the main reason for this difference is that similar claims companies don't exist in Germany or the Netherlands or, if they do, that there are rules in place that prevent them from operating in this way. Surely it can't be the case that the British are much more dishonest/immoral than people in those countries?

Some Googling...hedda, looks as if you're right that immoral government encourages public immorality, according to the Daily Mail!

The British and Dutch are the most honest in the world, while people in Tanzania are the least - and it's all down to how corrupt their politicians are

But oddly they say that the British and Dutch are similarly honest, so why aren't Dutch tourists doing the sickness scam?

Food poisoning seems to have evidence highlighting how many British actually lie for money. Not all - as a large number 9000 mentioned holidaying. So most do not deliberately lie for money or least not the food poisoning scam. So numbers or a lot of written pages proves nothing in truth but with no evidence to back up claims but to the contrary is further proof that large numbers make false allegations especially where money and lawyers are involved.

We already know that a lot of people are dishonest from all the insurance scams.

And that is just the ones they know about!

Citing data from the Association of British Insurers (ABI), a Press Association report published by Yahoo Finance today reveals that 562,000 scams were detected by insurance companies in 2017. The figure is made up of dishonest insurance applications (449,000) – a big chunk of which came from motor – and fraudulent claims (113,000).

I wonder how many people who make false allegations of sexual abuse have also committed insurance fraud, benefit fraud, etc.

Something I hear often is: 'there are so many...they can't all be lying'. I think the ones they don't know about becomes particularly worrying when cases are bundled together and similar fact evidence is used. The inspiration for my comment earlier on this thread came from an article I saw relating to the Bill Cosby allegations.

What with food poisoning and corruption on the same thread, I can't resist using one of the late, great Jimmy Savile's favourite lines:

A fish rots from the head down.

I fear insurance scams are as old as insurance itself. That said, from around (what?) the late eighties or early nineties the rise of whiplash claims seemed to be accompanied by the middle classes happily justifying their own greed. People who'd never so much as had a parking ticket, and wouldn't dream of buying contraband cigs, would talk about a burglary claim: "Just add an extra camera to the claim. You pay enough in premiums don't you?" Which I suppose just goes to illustrate the first point.

md mentioned 'there are so many...they can't all be lying'.
This is the key to the whole thing. It seems that most ordinary decent people, who may not have taken the time to read JK's story, or other similar ones, seem to be unable to get past this. But when we know that the original accusers were dirty liars, how should we treat all those who say, "Me too"?
