Reuters says the opposite.

Poll shows support for EU at 35-year high across bloc

Probably best to ignore this, though, if you prefer right-wing claptrap!

I do apologise that I can't research this...am on a small phone with terrible Internet.
There were some inaccuracies in that paper. ..for example check their date for the Brexit referendum...I have seen it before...different papers have given their views...which have of course depended on their own beliefs...get into the actual results and it changes..for example 50% feel the blocal is going the wrong way...any way a proper response when home...but I was referring to a longer term for popularity...say 20 years...and I'm sure support was far higher then.

That article doesn't give a date for the referendum, just says 2016, which I believe is correct. And it refers to support being at a 35-year high, which extends beyond 20 years.

Interestingly, an expert on TV the other night was talking about confirmation bias. Saying that when people were confronted with facts that contradicted their beliefs, their beliefs actually became stronger. Looks as if you've got a case of that, Silent Minority!

Just got back in the early hours Jo....and within seconds spotted my mistake...I do need glasses,at least I know that...as it was a very small phone...it actually said...'Britain, which will make good in March on a 2016 referendum vote to leave the EU'...I'm university qualified in Social sciences, including a large element of politics....and I'm happy to change my mind when the evidence demands it.
My main reason for saying this was the rise of anti euro parties in elections...Sweden/Germany?Italy/France etc have all seen substantial rises in anti EU party votes...even Macron said France may well vote to leave the bloc if given the choice....and a quick scan of the results do show a slight rise in support for staying in...but in many ways shows people's unhappiness with the direction the EU is taking....there is of course a difference between wanting to leave, and not being happy....for example Eastern europeans do not want all the immigrants from western europe being resettled there...but know leaving would damage their economies....

....I do however take your point from the survey, and hopefully you take mine that elections are proving the electorate are moving away from parties who back the EU strongly.....and finally before sleep overcomes this tired traveler remember how support moved with the economic woes...well we're in a worldwide economic boom at present, many leading economists do not think the Euro currency will be able to survive the next recession in its current form....and Brexit may well affect the Eurozone exports far worse than the UK...a no deal will not be great for EU exports...and Macron and Merkel are both in a mess according to polls from their country....add in the loss of £40 billion divorse..and the loss of our £8 Billion annual payment surplus to EU coffers...then the couple of billion loss of EU fishing rights....then add in the loss of migration rights to the UK....I'm no gambling man Jo....but I'm sure the above figures may well affect EU popularity....I'd have accepted staying in the EU if Cameron had agreed a good deal for us,but it was a joke to many, not real reform.
A Good day to you Sir.

It was the same deal that May tried to push numerous times and was rejected.

Not to say that foreigners aren't entitled to a view on British policy, but for an Australian who lives in Australia to be criticising Brits living in the UK, Europeans living in the UK and even possibly Europeans living in the EU for having a view on Brexit is a bit rich!

ghastly right wing loony who has just been convicted in a Melbourne court for assaulting his wife.

another "activist" who screeches "traitor" at those who don;t share his views (why do so man non-Yanks yell "traitor" while wearing MAGA hats? )...yet he was in the Israel army and says he enjoyed shooting Palestinians dead. Charming.

I suppose there's always bike locks people could borrow from Eric Clanton or from an Antifa mob.

Is that Cambridge-educated David Starkey CBE criticising "the elite"? Afraid to say that I have low tolerance for people who could be argued to fall into that category themselves using it as a stick to bash others with - others whose "elitist" credentials possibly don't even match those of the people doing the criticising.

He's an odd character..turns up at Melbourne events (where he lives) attacking anyone to the left of Genghis Khan (was Genghis really right wing? )

Can't find the videos but he's an Israeli /Australian citizen and would have had to serve in the IDF ..said he loved killing Palestinians but who knows..may have been in the Catering Corp.
beloved of "Tommy Robinson".

I really like Starkey as an eccentric character but rarely agree with his views.
