TOPIC: So what's next for Brexit?

So what's next for Brexit? 5 Years, 4 Months ago
I suspect, rather like Britain's Justice system, where the truth gets suffocated by boredom, the same will happen on Brexit. May will drone on and on; the country (and I suspect MP's) will crumble; exhausted by this boring subject. Who cares? As a result I think her ghastly "deal" will squeak through the vote and we'll be lumbered. Matthew Parris wrote a column in The Times saying "No! Beware. This is truly serious. We must have a second referendum and reverse this stupid Brexit". I fear we really cannot be bothered. Our elected leaders decided to hold a first referendum on this complex issue so all we public (not me) voted without knowledge or information, mainly on prejudice (I like Europe and would have voted for Remain; others don't like immigrants and would have voted Leave). Simple Slogans were used; the simplest won. I fear we will leave the EU; it will cost the country billions; there will be a huge increase in tragedies and disasters but that's life (or, in many cases, death). Millions, in five years time, will say "We should never have left; can we join again?". Trillions wasted. Bonkers. But then the human race is slowly rushing towards the cliff edge anyway.

JK Sorry I do not know what May proposed, What she should of proposed and the where's why's the what's. Like the initial BREXIT campaigns and vote.Lots of talk - this and that nothing was clear but apart from the one thing that appears to be achieved already is the decrease in immigration which should mean more jobs for the crowd already in the UK.(With the usual media stories and lies the truth is sooo difficult to know!!!!)

I personally consider the present and future actions and non actions of our leaders at the heart of concern whether "in or out". Tories do not care about poor, homelessness, justice, human rights and just want a free for all market where their business supporters can have cheap labour and rip everyone else off. Labour do care about "the all" as long as they do not rent out property and are not too rich, also they expect falsely accused to accept their fate and confess - Labour knows best. So Labour are one sided also. Believe complainants (many who are women) and the false accusers are so small in number that it does not matter. Labour are really a mixed up bunch of self serving "do gooders". Like the old days where new motor way protestors quite happily drove "their cars" on the roads to the site of the protest. But never once did I read of sensible alternatives and approaches suggested and worked upon (same today). I do, and I would hope most others also, agree with the sentiment of many causes and protests but when approached wrongly they become destructive and pointless.

Soooooooooo I consider that along with many currently (and many in the past) who are positively challenging stupidity and injustice with positive actions and positive well thought proposals and questions is where we need to be. Thus I am interested in what can be done to make the UK a great society. As to Brexit well the past leaders where so self serving stating and sounding correct that like Margaret Thatcher looking out for "Britain's interests" But for a marriage to be great the interests of all and all people need to be taken into account. In the past the UK has been a very poor partner and not at the forefront of positive change. Yes May excluded herself from my good books (books very empty!!!) years ago when she obviously (and has since opposed Human Rights). Yes at one time she wanted an obvious terrorist preacher out of the UK. So what! - that she had to eventually follow the law and go through due process it worked and showed in the long run all was above board and done correctly.

AT this point when the vote was for out what should of been done in the negotiations and would the other European countries agreed with it? Even fellow Tories disagree with May but are short on what they would do and when they have a difference proposal can they be certain it would be accepted? It is easy to criticize but a very difference thing to find real solutions!!!

Mike Galsworthy of Scientists for EU says "It’s now a 3-way gunfight between Remain, MayDeal & NoDeal... a bit like the Good, the Bad and the Ugly".

Interesting Jo. It clarifies the fight options. Let me add some thoughts questions. REMAIN group win the day and a second referendum is held and narrowly the REMAIN group wins. Then later now tied completely back in to all the EU laws etc the momentum starts again. Why did we vote remain? And not try for a number of years separate?

Ideal view (Can not see it ever happening) UK should of remained and become the mover and shaker of EU policies like human rights, respect for ALL needy groups, like immigration and migrants, jobs for all. Rescue of countries like Greece with forgiveness like Germany received after second time around world war II debts wiped and rebuilding. Thus the central EU banks and UK bank know how to create wealth but need further to learn to distribute it. There is so much that can be accomplished.

To now - where we are. The speaker on the video who seemed or at least appeared to be much as anyone in the know never once suggested there was a far better way to deal in the actual items. He only stated it was not popular. But international trade is always about making deals or at times gun boat diplomacy and selling Opium to ruin lives and get trade. So dealing has to be better in modern times. A No deal only means dealing later. (Video guy seemed to be in the REMAIN camp I think)

The only thing I can think is that the BREXIT crowd who are disappointed are living in fantasists dream land. One who buys the lottery ticket and goes home thinking how they will spend the millions and then discover they have actual won but in is £20 they have to spend dream vs reality

So all said and done May now and whoever later will as per usual as leader will always give the direction in the overall dealing.

So I have to agree with the video speaker that it is a three way mad shoot out that is pointless waste of energy and long way from justice and helping ALL who need jobs, income, food, justice and roof over their heads and so on.
