Back in the 60s and 70s everybody in the entertainment business knew that Jimmy Savile "liked young girls" - by which we all assumed (rightly, I suspect) that he enjoyed flirting with 17 and 18 year olds. We all knew that Esther Rantzen had been pretty devious in getting to the top of her chosen profession - naughty but acceptable. We all knew that Kevin Spacey was gay but officially in the closet and that Harvey was an appalling flirt and bully but bloody good at making and breaking difficult but brilliant pictures. We never thought the changing morality would retrogressively alter our views. And for some of us it hasn't.

yes that was the general thought about Savile even by the general public..and basically because he gave that impression..as did many slebs which is also why many thought he may have been gay and yet..so very odd not one of those 10,000 groomed people from age 6 to 95 spoke up while he was alive!!!

But some did, didn't they?

2 middle aged women began to describe their on/off life-long affairs with Jimmy which sounded much more like the truth ( with perhaps some one night encounters with suspect aged gals.. which of course has never happened before in the UK except every Saturday night among 10,000s of teens)

But they quickly saw sense and zipped the lips as The Atmosphere of Daring to Question The Witch Hunt meant any possible defender of The Evil Savile would be thrown upon the bonfire.
