May the ugly reality. 5 Years, 4 Months ago
She has to go; Brexit cannot happen; her only way out is a second referendum. I blame Cameron. A terrible mistake.

if it goes ahead it will be a disaster.

But it's very difficult talking to rusted-on Brexiters and trying to explain the consequences (even as Nissan & Rolls Royce announce they will quit Britain)

So many come back with the claim Britain will be able to do fabulous Trade Deals with..Australia and elsewhere without a single bit of knowledge how these deals are done.

For instance Australia has just done the biggest trade deal in it's lifetime with Indonesia (now at risk because the dickhead PM has announce Australia will move it's embassy to Jerusalem)..

It's taken FIVE YEARS with the experts proclaiming how quick it was !!!

Meanwhile the EU & China have just signed off on one of the biggest Trade agreements of all time.

Britain will be out on it's own yet still have to obey all EU rules..with NIL input.

MADNESS !

USELESS INFO: just listened to a lovely radio program on Rolls Royce and it was Mr Royce who was the genius behind these cars with Mr Rolls backing it...it should have really been called a Royce Rolls !!!!

Like all my friends, I voted to remain - as, Ms May probably did; she was a declared remainer.

But what does a new Prime Minister do - when faced with a clear and decisive decision, by the electorate, to leave?

She can't ignore the result, or unilaterally decide to remain. As Juncker says - she's doing the best for her country, in the negotiations.

If we had another referendum - and the result is the same - should we then have yet another one!?

We should never have had a referendum in the first place - most voters simply have no idea; why should we have? But if there is a second referendum and the result is again Leave; then it is Leave; No Deal; end of (and I'll move out to somewhere more sensible).

Nissan have done such an enormous amount to regenerate the North East - after the demise of the coal, ship building and steel industries.

Their Sunderland factory, opened over 30 years ago, employs 8,000 people - with another 30,000 supplying components.

However, millions of components also arrive every day - in Sunderland, from EU countries - in Nissan's 'just in time' strategy. These components attract no tariffs or customs delays.

Should this change - in a hard Brexit - Nissan would likely relocate to France, as they have an alliance with Renault; they also have an alliance (joint ownership agreement) with Mitsubishi.

Investment in Sunderland - where the new X-Trail and Qashqai were expected to be built - ceased some months ago.

Notwithstanding these clear and simple facts - over 60% of the people of Sunderland voted to leave.

Probably cutting off the hand that feeds them.

Is the future Lady May really responsible for this?

If the voters were supposedly too stupid to understand a simple leave or remain question how on earth are they supposed to understand a 500+ page withdrawal document, and most people don't have a clue or care less about what the irish back stop is. Parliament voted overwhemingly to have a referendum (mainly because they felt certain that remain would win and we could all stop arguing about it). I supported remain, but if the referendum result is to leave then we have to leave. If we still had a coalition then we wouldn't be in this mess, anyone who voted tory in that election is partly responsible, even if they supported remain.
