Very little footage as yet.
We do have two posters in and about that area.
It is a confirmed earthquake now though and it`s Folkestone.

A lot of chimneys down, put power has now been restored.

Bit of a false alarm, eh, Mart?

Personally I put it down to a build-up of gas from all those hops, or John Prescott farting after having his breakfast !

Big worry - what effect could this have on the Eurotunnel?

Small cracks become big cracks and one day in a couple of weeks... WHOOSH!

The Eurotunnel was my first theory of the cause when the news came over, it`s a very big chunk of earth and rock missing by the "quake".

It doesnt bare thinking about what awful things could happen to it either if it gets damaged.
I`ve only travelled on the Eurotunnel thing twice, what struck me as extremely odd, was that I had a full mobile phone signal.

Interesting - it took almost 12 hours before Ch4 news were the first to mention the Eurotunnel; who's running the other news services and how much training does it take to spot such an obvious point of interest?

I am more and more convinced that the Eurotunnel is to blame as I think about it.
All I initially thought about was the tunnel through the rock etc, but when I think about the sheer weight that goes on that train daily, through the tunnel, I feel it must be sending vibrations to surrounding regions.
We shall see.

I think you've got me wrong here Mart; I'm not saying the Tunnel caused the quake; I'm worried that the quake may have caused cracks and damage which, in days, weeks or months, may lead to a collapse, flooding and multiple deaths - and I could be IN the tunnel when it does!!!

And I'm astonished this aspect seems to have been missed in the coverage.

I can elaborate on this theory after reading the Mail this morning.

Page 18.

Look at the diagram of the fault-line out of Folkestone.
And then track where the tunnel travels.
The tunnel follows it.

Uh oh!

I should imagine the structure of the tunnel would be easily able to withstand such a relatively minor earthquake.

I'm flying off to Finland tomorrow for the Eurovision, and I absolutely hate flying. Getting very edgy about it already.

I'd rather be heading off down that tunnel any day.

You wouldn't get me inside that tunnel for any amount of money - and that was before it was an earthquake zone !!!
