TOPIC: Carrie Gracie Dateline London
#184983
Carrie Gracie Dateline London 5 Years, 3 Months ago
Good to see Carrie has had her hair done up nice and feminine (we used to call it froo froo), is wearing dangly ear rings and makeup - it's obviously dawned on her that if she's going to be paid equally to a man she ought to look more like a woman.

So much of feminism means women acting more like men and hardly ever the other way around.

Yes what I hate about the "equal pay" argument is that the jobs are often not equal - take something obviously similar, like street sweeping; doing the job badly is not equal to doing it well. And as for news reading and hosting talk programmes (which Carrie seems OK at) - example - many women (not Carrie) have higher, squeaky voices which give us going deaf listeners and viewers difficulty in hearing them. Likewise, women tend to need more attention to hair, makeup, jewelry than men. Individuals are better and worse at jobs; I like Fiona Bruce on TV; cannot stand Sarah Cox on radio. I don't think "broadcasting" is an equal job; some do it better and different to others. Kenny Everett was no John Peel.
