I really cannot understand how vegans can declare the life of a carrot is less worthy than the life of a chicken. I admire their stance of refusing to eat things that have been killed but a glass of water contains more life forms than a farm; how can they justify putting values on life? They are simply a belief cult - which is fine, as are Christians, Muslims and Moonies; but they try to pretend to be ethically superior where they are simply not. Kill a potato - it doesn't deserve to live. Their answer is - potatoes don't feel pain. They can, apparently, speak and hear potato and know they don't scream in agony when being sliced into chips.

Saw a piece about Gordon Ramsay going vegan....not sure if it was because he had a life-changing event....but I'm sure a man like yourself with good London restaurant connections may find it interesting.

I think it is more that the farming methods are cruel and the carbon footprint of cattle is considered to a major factor in climate change. Although, if we cleared fields to grow vegetables for everyone we'd decimate insect populations and birds and blah. Basically the planet is really overcrowded and nature needs to cook up a plague pretty fast to wipe a load of us out to (ironically) ensure our survival.

Yes cruelty to a carrot doesn't worry a vegan and all the farting due to eating brussel sprouts kills the planet every Christmas. Once you start on a loony belief system, who knows when it will end. Vegans won't eat honey!
