One of the perks of being a disk jockey (and the like) is that background or facts aren't important, as long as the comment isn't libellous.

Comments on celebrities are commonplace in the media; they are their bread and butter. Evidence or the necessity for proof don't exist.

Did Starr really eat his hamster; do you care?

Certainly not the general public or the authorities. Or even the huge disinterested planet.


Even inference is legal - again, a frequent feature in your morning paper.

For example - the old chestnut 'when did you stop beating your wife...
