Evil scones. 5 Years, 2 Months ago

*Yawn* Now we are told to stay away from scones because they contain ten spoonfuls of sugar.
It would have to be a jolly big scone, seen as the recipe doesn't usually have sugar, and even if you cram two teaspoons of jam on it, that is only one tsp of sugar. (plus fructose and lactose from the fruit and cream )
Manufactured ones might be full of it ,but why dont they suggest the food companies stop swamping everything in sugar and fat instead of telling people not to eat scones?

Scones vary so much - and are made (usually) from wheat, oatmeal and barley.
A worldwide phenomenon, with large regional variations in the UK.
Sugar, as you say, is not major ingredient - and used in small quantities.
The National Trust - at their houses and gardens - do particularly good ones.
