He abused his position of trust. I dont think it is about their ages, but being pupil and mentor.
I assume the laws regarding this are similar to ours?

the Age of Consent is of course a sort of legal thing that tries to prevent the young from being taken advantage of.

There is a real problem here because The Young are often taken advantage of in so many other aspects of society..work wise especially.

But it's basically a real English hang-up (and of it's & former Dominions- Australia, the USA, NZ etc.)

The USA is so vast with it's numerous States that are very local in their thinking so they had varying ages of consent.

In Italy and so many other countries , especially South America where hormones rage (is it Latin thing?) basically from a very early age teens (and we mean 11/12 yrs olds ..pre-teens) are Hot To Trot.

Just like all children ..or at least most ..as they reach puberty they are a nightmare..they simply want sex. They play games. They are complicated. But SEX almost drives them.

It's all very normal.

Decades ago the Netherlands had the most sensible laws on sex. If a 12 year old was caught having sex with a 20 year old all aspects of the matter were taken into consideration. Was the 12 year old seduced on lies or via the older exerting some sort of power or via payment?.

Or did the 12 year old seduce the older?? It does happen ! The Netherlands laws were beaten out of the Dutch by the EU but they still act as though they still exist. The Dutch are always practical.

Vulnerable people need protection. For instance my cousin has the most beautiful daughter who we all love but whose mental progression stopped at eight years old.
Now she is 16 and the body..and hormones... are kicking in..what do we do? Stop her doing what she may have done normally or protect her when she may be taken advantage of by someone horrible

The most basic aspect of humanity- sex has become a dreadful weapon to be used .

I can vaguely remember some fifty year old documentary talking to a hippy couple,and they mentioned giving their young child cannabis and acid,in moderation....so they could make up their own mind etc...the Pedo Exchange or similar sounding organization were allowed to affiliate with the Labour party in the seventies...the Dutch only banned the sale of child pornography about thirty years ago...I doubt in a few years our views will be the same...I have no children of my own,but by marriage have Gran kids...I'm not even going to attempt to think....I'd only worry too much....
