Line of Duty 5 Years ago
Series 5 of this excellent show started tonight.

About an internal anti-corruption unit working in the (UK) Police, with a remit to identify bent coppers.

Good, complex and topical story lines have been a feature - with quality casting and acting.

Might be worth a watch - as a lot of it rings true...

Oh yes I've been a huge fan since Day One; Jed Mercurio is a terrific writer. And yes indeed; many interesting pieces of connected information about bent cops increasingly for, often, very legitimate reasons (like the poor Asian girl Maneet in this week's opener). I remember being astonished he dared kill off Daniel Mays in Episode One last series. Still two police forces are investigating the false allegations and police behaviour in my 2018 case but don't hold your breath; Professional Standards Departments tend not to be quite as brave as AC-12! As long as the series has gone on I've wished for a series of Line Of Duty based on the False Allegations Industry. Perhaps recent Cliff, Gambo, Heath, Proctor, Janner and other cases will inspire Jed. He could base it all in Manchester and hook the story line to Coronation Street (currently Top Soap when it comes to False Allegations against actors in it).

I can honestly say that I can live perfectly without TV.

I saw the first series that was more than enough.

I have an image GM of you rubbing your tired eyes over a fluttering candle as you place Homer - in the original Greek - back on your bedside table...

Good for you..

I have books on my favourite bands, gun rights, hunting and War and Peace in Russian which I got in a charity shop.

I never learnt Russian and don't want to either, I just saw the book in Russian translation and bought it. It looks impressive on the shelve.

I'm currently reading these 3 books Wyot.
