TOPIC: Brexit - Labour's madness

Brexit - Labour's madness 5 Years ago
If Labour rebels had not joined the Tories, both the Ken Clarke and the Confirmation referendum would have passed. It looks now, as ghastly May hoped, that her dreadful deal will pass and we can all look forward to the worst possible Brexit; troubles returning to Northern Ireland and an eventual split for the Union (NI will be forced to leave and Scotland will vote to leave - I might move to Edinburgh).

I can no longer even bring myself to read about Brexit. We appear in my eyes and I'm sure most of the rest of the world a confused, hapless and rather pitiful nation at present.

Ditto. The establishment have ignored the public and none of the MP's can agree on anything - if there was an election next week I would expect the lowest turn out in history. Labour are for the loons not for the working class or workers, Tories are digging a hole, Lib Dems are terrible and have a dinosaur as their leader, UKIP ship sailed, Green Party are very unpatriotic.

The only thing I can see happening is a No Deal Brexit and have WTO deals.

I would certainly hope that if we have a snap election we have another one after it just to make sure.

Oh, and then whoever is in charge will have to find a way to suit both winners and losers. (like that fool Theresa May said she tried to do)

Ah yes, the establishment, aka Boris Johnson, Jacob Rees-Mogg and former investment banker Nigel Farage. I'm sure they have the interests of ordinary working people at heart

But Honey we do have fresh elections every few years as the public changes its mind; and in my opinion the most successful Government in recent years was the Coalition. I still think that's the best way.

They have been far more consistent than most, sticking mainly to the same view...could you say the same of Cameron/Clegg/Blair?...or champagne socialist Corbyn who entered the last election promising to respect the referendum result and leave, including the customs union etc?

Most in parliament have some sort of privaledged past....it's not where you came from...but where you want to go to.

Again funny how selective you are with how democracy works Doctor King...you and others were very against having any democracy at all concerning EU membership...then after your preferred choice lost you demanded even more democracy...well at least until your desired result will be achieved...then you will be shouting from the rafters for the matter to end...and absolutely no more votes on the matter.
Unfortunately another referendum would be the worst result for both sides, especially as the withdrawal mess is now seen as firmly the result of the remain leaning establishment failing to accept the public did not vote to accept a bad deal.
Go back in now,and the next recession Will just lead for more calls for another referendum...and so it will go on....
...we had the referendum because of a strong growth in anti EU sentiment with the electorate...UKIP won the EU 2014 election...their vote would have continued to rise...making a mess of government,as we have now....Just watch the next council elections, and possible EU elections...do you really want people like Tommy Robinson being elected representives of the UK? Because that is exactly what Will increasingly happen if we mess with democracy....
...quite simple solution...if leaving the EU turns out to be as bad financially as many fear then is the time to call another referendum...
...and also be careful...the last poll I saw had no deal as the preferred option
