I love North Africa - some of my favourite people in the world. I've never been to either Algeria or Libya and hope to visit both before I die. I totally support the peaceful revolution in Algeria and hope a tolerant, liberal regime takes over so I can visit (friends tell me Algiers is beautiful).
Algeria takes a visa in advance to enter, and it is often just easier to avoid as an result.
'Before you travel, you will need to get a visa from the Algerian Consulate in London. This can take up to 4 weeks so plan ahead. You can’t get a visa on arrival. You should check the details of your visa, including validity dates, before travelling. You may be asked to provide an invitation letter as part of your application.'
I do feel sorry for Algerian citizens,my favourite Langkawi hotel is run by a French Algerian, one of the nicest people you could meet....and last year got talking to a lovely Algerian couple who were stuck there trying to get visas for onward Asian travel...
...we live in a world where international travel is so cheap and easy, which makes it all the more sad when citizens of certain nations cannot enjoy the same....
PS...direct flights to Algiers from £168 next month return...for those who have the time ans patience to do the visa may well grab a bargain.
